Governor suspends all elective procedures
On March 23, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 109, directing the suspension of all elective surgeries and invasive procedures that are scheduled to be performed on adults after 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2020.
This change will reduce the burden on the health care system during the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting the hospitals’ capacity and preserving the medical equipment and the personal protective equipment for those who need it most.
The Governor’s Executive Order applies to all medical and dental operations that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future health of the patient, as determined by the patient’s physician or dentist.
The Order also requires facilities to immediately notify patients who are impacted by this change.
