Eligibility for NJ FamilyCare Advantage Español

To be eligible for the NJ FamilyCare Advantage program offered through Horizon NJ Health, your family must meet the following guidelines:

  • Without health insurance for at least six months.
    • There is no waiting period if you have recently lost employment due to a reduction in staff or if your child has lost NJ FamilyCare or NJ Medicaid eligibility.
  • Your children must be under the age of 19.
  • Eligibility is based upon household income and the number of people in your family.

Can parents apply for this program?

Sorry, this program is only for dependent children under the age of 19.

My children were enrolled in NJ FamilyCare until recently, but they no longer qualify. Do I have to wait for the six-month period before I can enroll my children in NJ FamilyCare Advantage?

No! Children who lost their Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare eligibility are able to apply for coverage immediately.

Can I enroll just one of my dependent children from my household in NJ FamilyCare Advantage?

No, families must enroll all eligible children in the household.

I am 17 years old and living on my own. Do I qualify?

No, members must be "Dependent" children. However, you may meet the requirements for the traditional NJ FamilyCare program. Click here for more information about that program.
